| George Melvin Rennie |
George Melvin Rennie 1874-1953, my grandfather, was a Scottish landscape artist working mainly in oils but also watercolour and pastel.Based in Aberdeen and Braemar. He painted from a studio in Braemar for 25 years and was allowed access across the Balmoral estates. A picture chosen by Queen Mary hangs in Birkhall House one of the royal residences on the estate. For many years parties of americans visited the highlands as guests of a Colonel Black who rented Mar Lodge on the Balmoral estate for the grouse shooting, this resulted in a flow of grandfathers pictures back to the states. Valentines the post card printers comissioned a series of scottish scenes which are still in circulation today. We are now offering limited editions of some of his paintings. Produced by the giclee process using fade resistant inks on high quality 350gsm canvas to ensure exact image reproduction. Each canvas can be supplied stretched ready to frame or supplied in a traditional gold scoop frame with hessian slip- a perfect match for these pictures. |
